Mystery Grave of the Old Purdy Cemetary

Yes, this is a rehash from the last incarnation of this website, but the Old Purdy Cemetary has to be one of the scariest places on the planet. From Purdy, TN, it’s a mile or two from the Hurst Mansion, down an old one lane, long and winding gravel/dirt road. There is a little turn around area, by the cemetary where I think some teenagers where attacked by the un-dead or something. In any case, scary place. It must be scary to the max at night.
Someone hoped that history would forget this person, buried near Major Wright in the Purdy Cemetery. They chiseled out the name of the deceased.
There must be some story behind taking a chisel to someone’s eternal resting stone! If you know, email me.
Here is the tombstone enlarged and photos-shopped a tad. Drop me an email and let me know what you think it says at fieldinghurst@yahoo.com.

We were just at the cemetery taking pictures, but we didn’t get as good a picture of that marker as you did. I believe I have it figured out. I sent you an enhanced picture by email… check it out.
